Meet Michaell, chef of La Cocina, AMOR’s in-camp food service.
Michaell’s grandmother received an AMOR home when he was 11 years old. His uncle went to work for AMOR, and Michaell also began working with AMOR when he turned 14.
Michaell went to college to study engineering but decided that wasn’t his field. He switched to culinary school, and will graduate in a few months. At that time he plans to commit himself to La Cocina full time. His mother Connie and his close friend also work for La Cocina.
Michaell takes great pride in providing quality food for AMOR campers. On our first night, we learned that everything had been cooked traditionally and over fire instead of a stove top.
Michaell’s story is a great example of the beauty of the AMOR experience. His family received a home. Their lives were changed, and he now provides the food that gives our group strength & energy to provide homes for others.
During our stay, teams take turns on OTS (Opportunity to Serve), dishing up either breakfast or dinner to fellow campers.
Hey, parents, your kids are doing a fantastic job serving one another in the job site & in camp. What great kids you’re raising!
